THIS ISN’T JUST A SHOW FOR KIDS.
While FROZEN carries all the magic audiences expect from Disney, the Broadway musical is a large theatrical production driven primarily by adult performers. At its heart is a sophisticated story about family, fear, isolation, responsibility, grief, sacrifice, love, and finding the courage to become who you were meant to be.
We are especially seeking strong ADULT actors, singers, dancers, and character performers.
Please note: This is not being cast as a children’s production. Youth performers are an important part of the story, but the Broadway musical requires a substantial adult company.
If you are an adult performer who has been wondering whether FROZEN has a place for you, the answer is YES!

 

THE STORY
Based on the Academy Award-winning animated film, the Broadway production of FROZEN expands the beloved story with additional music, deeper character development, powerful ensemble storytelling, and theatrical spectacle.
Two sisters are separated by fear and reunited through love. Elsa struggles with a power she cannot fully control and the responsibility that comes with it. Anna refuses to give up on the sister she loves. Around them is a world of royalty, townspeople, hidden folk, comic characters, danger, and extraordinary theatrical magic.
This production requires performers who can bring truth and emotional maturity to the story while embracing the joy, humor, movement, and spectacle of Disney.

 

CASTING (ages may vary depending on available actors)

 

ELSA — Adult Female
A commanding leading role requiring a powerful contemporary musical-theatre voice and exceptional acting ability. Elsa’s journey moves through fear, repression, isolation, freedom, guilt, and ultimately acceptance. Requires emotional depth and strong stage presence.

Vocal demand: Very strong belt/mix with upper register.

 

ANNA — Adult Female
Warm, funny, impulsive, courageous, and emotionally open. Anna carries much of the heart and comedy of the production. Requires an excellent actress with strong comic instincts, vulnerability, stamina, and a strong contemporary musical-theatre voice.

 

KRISTOFF — Adult Male
A rugged, independent ice harvester who gradually reveals tremendous warmth and vulnerability. Requires strong acting, likability, comic timing, movement ability, and a solid singing voice.

 

HANS — Adult Male
Charming, polished, intelligent, and seemingly everything a prince should be. Requires an actor capable of playing sincerity, romance, humor, and the character’s more complicated layers.

 

OLAF — Adult or Older Teen, Any Gender
One of the show’s great character roles. Funny, innocent, optimistic, and unexpectedly touching. We are looking for a strong character actor with excellent comic timing, physicality, personality, and vocal ability—not simply someone who can
imitate the animated character.

 

SVEN — Adult or Older Teen
A highly physical storytelling role requiring excellent movement, characterization, stamina, and comic instincts. Dance, movement, acrobatic, or physical-theatre experience is especially welcome.

 

WESELTON — Adult Male
A featured comic character role. Requires a confident actor with excellent comic timing, physicality, and the ability to create a memorable character.

 

OAKEN — Adult, Any Gender
A wonderfully eccentric featured character role. Strong comic instincts, personality, and willingness to make bold theatrical choices are essential.

 

PABBIE & BULDA — Adults
Leaders within the Hidden Folk community. Warm, mystical, grounded, and commanding. These performers help establish the deeper spiritual and emotional world of the production. Strong singers and movers are desired.

 

KING AGNARR & QUEEN IDUNA — Adults
The parents of Anna and Elsa. Though their stage time is concentrated early in the story, their choices have enormous emotional consequences. We are looking for mature actors capable of establishing a believable family and emotional stakes quickly.

 

BISHOP / STEWARD / FEATURED ADULT ROLES
Adult character performers are needed for several featured roles throughout the production. Some may double with ensemble tracks.

 

ADULT ENSEMBLE
We need a strong company of adult singers, dancers, actors, and movers to create the world of Arendelle.
Adult ensemble members may portray:
Arendelle townspeople • castle staff • dignitaries • guards • Hidden Folk • coronation guests • Oaken’s family • featured dancers • specialty characters • additional featured roles

There are opportunities for both strong dancers and strong singers/actors who move well.
Adults of a wide range of ages, types, backgrounds, and experience levels are encouraged to audition.

 

YOUTH ROLES

 

YOUNG ELSA
Youth female performer with strong acting and singing ability. Must be able to portray Elsa’s early joy as well as the fear and emotional weight that changes her relationship with Anna.

 

YOUNG ANNA
Youth female performer with strong vocals, personality, comic instincts, and natural stage presence. Must create a believable sister relationship with Young Elsa.

 

SELECT YOUTH ENSEMBLE
A limited number of children may be cast in featured ensemble moments where appropriate.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We encourage performers to audition even if they do not see themselves as a traditional “Disney type.”
We are looking for storytellers first; performers who can sing, act, move, take direction, work collaboratively, and bring honesty to the material.
Strong adult performers are especially encouraged to attend.

 

FROZEN needs:
Powerhouse vocalists. Strong actors. Dancers and movers. Character actors. Comedic performers. Mature storytellers. Physical performers. And a small group of exceptional young actors.

FINAL NOTE
Beneath the snow, spectacle, and familiar songs is a remarkably human story about what happens when fear separates us and how love gives us the courage to reconnect.
