GCP's production of

The Late Christopher Bean

July 14, 15 and 16, 1949

Written by Sidney Howard

Directed by Stephen Sands

"A portrait of Abby, the central figure in the Gainesville Little Theatre's production of "The Late Christopher Bean," has been especially painted for the play by John McFadden.
McFadden, a student at the University of Florida where he is majoring in art and English, paints a primitive style similar to that of Grandma Moses.
This is the type of work which brought posthumous fame to Christopher Bean, and which activates most of the situations in the comedy. McFadden has painted Abby, as played by Thelma Boltin, wearing a house dress and peeling a bunch of carrots.
Several of McFadden's paintings are in private collections in Gainesville.
Stephen Sands, the director of the play, has announced that in addition to the artist his technical crew will consist of Deane Lee. Gerald Bridges, Cooper Matthews, Edith Moore and Kelmer Baxter.
Margie Smith will be assistant to the director for this production, the last of the current Little Theatre season".---Gainesville Daily Sun, July 14, 1949
