GCP's production of

Gold in the Hills

October 21, 1961

Written by J. Frank Davis

Directed by Tom Godey

Openly sentimental and cautiously suggestive, the characters range from Villain Richard Murgatroyd to Sweety Nell Stanley. Father Stanley is outraged throughout - at his supposedly wayward daughter and at Murgatroyd (who attempts to steal home, fireplace and daughter).
Act II, which takes place in a New York Bowery bar, is unquestionably the best.
