It is about Victoria Van Bret as she rules her family with a maniac's firmness, but never does she lose the outward charm of the born aristocrat. She always commits her atrocities in the manner of a true Ban Bret. The action is centered around the marriage of Victoria's nephew to a girl that does not meet Victoria's approval. The nephew and his bride come to live under Victoria's roof and rule.
